Tuljapur, Maharashtra

In this village in Tuljapur, I happened upon a card game. These old men were sitting near the panchayat building and playing. They were so absorbed in their game. Each one comfortable in a way that said that they did this everyday. Having taken care of family and field for so many years, they now sat back and relaxed. Memories of days past flicked around as the cards were dealt. The simmering heat hovered above like a heavy sigh. As I sat watching one old man looked up and stared right at me. You too shall feel this he seemed to say in stoic silence. You too shall feel this some day…
