Friend at First Sight

My father took me for a ride,

Along the long, long Marine Drive,

And at a signal Red Light,

A little girl came to our side.

Tap-tap, tap-tap

She knocked at our door.

Pressing her nose to the glass,

A few coins she asked for

Her torn clothes, her eyes faraway,

but I saw a friend with whom, I could play.

Mama gave her a toffee

the light turned green

I waved at her

And she smiled at me

The car moved away

And so did she

Our eyes met

And so did we

Now when we pass that traffic light,

I look for my,

friend at first sight
